About Me

My photo
i own a little vintage shop on the south coast by the sea, or at vintagepersempre.com. im married and we have a beautiful baby girl. i like going for walks on cold sunny days and trashy reality tv. i love small boutiques, markets and big city centers. im slightly dyslexic so you'll have to ignore my poor spelling, and i rarely use capital letters. my music taste is so varied, from country to screamo, oh and musicals. i love song lyrics, pretty photographs and modern art. i have many guilty pleasures and im really not very cool. im obsessed with drawings and tattoos of birds, but im genuinely terrified of real life ones. i guess you can read on to find out more (:

one of my favorite books

The Velveteen rabbit is one of the most amazing stories I have ever read,
It is a children's story written from the toys perceptive.
My favorite extract:

‘What is REAL?’ asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. ‘Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?’

‘Real isn’t how you are made,’ said the Skin Horse. ‘It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.’

‘Does it hurt?’ asked the Rabbit.

‘Sometimes,’ said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. ‘When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.’

‘Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,’ he asked, ‘or bit by bit?’

‘It doesn’t happen all at once,’ said the Skin Horse. ‘You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.’

‘I suppose you are real?’ said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled.

‘The Boy’s Uncle made me Real,’ he said. ‘That was a great many years ago; but once you are Real you can’t become unreal again. It lasts for always.

let us runaway

so i've spent the last few days thinking of what to blog about.
and for some reason there has been nothing to inspire me.

i mean okay i spent sunday in spittlefields and fell in love with tapestry.
(bought a beautiful green tapestry skirt - pictures to follow)
and also refound my love for b & w t shirts with random words/ doodles on - ha i bought two (:

i spent spent hours yesterday on we heart it and of course stalking the cherry blog for the millionth time.

but something somewhere kept bringing me back to the idea of faith.
thats faith in yourself, your partner, your family, or possibly having a faith.

weither you have none or all of these, no matter who or what you believe your god is, i'd recommend this song to anyone. its stunning.

lifehouse - storm (acoustic)

i know you didn't bring me out here to drown.
so why am i ten feet under and upside down?
barely surviving has become my purpose,
cause i'm so used to living underneath the surface.

if i could just see you,
everything would be alright.
if i could see you
this darkness would turn into light.

and i will walk on water,
and you will catch me if i fall.
and i will get lost into your eyes,
and everything will be alright.

im not preaching, truely.
i really dont know what my own beliefs are.
i just know that this song helps, even if it only gives me a little inspiration.
